Thupaki satellite rights snapped

It's said that Vijay TV that earlier bagged Ilayathalapathy Vijay's Nanban's satellite rights for an undisclosed huge price has now bagged the satellite rights of his forthcoming, Thupaki as well! It's further rumored that the amount is way more than that of Nanban's.

The film is currently taking shape in a fast pace but none of the teasers nor trailers have been unveiled thanks to a case going on regarding the title and when the first look posters released, apart from this title issue, social activists had a problem with Vijay posing with a cigar for he is considered an idol among the young & had promised he wouldn't smoke or drink on screen.

'Thupaki's scenes have been wrapped and there are only a couple of songs pending to be shot in Europe.

'Thupaki' sees Vijay, Kajal Aggarwal in the roles and is helmed by AR Murugadoss. Music is by Harris Jayaraj whilst Sathyan provides comic relief.

'Thupaki' to release on Diwali

Diwali release, Ilayathalapathy Vijay's action thriller, 'Thupaki' confirmed by  Kalaipuli S Thanu.  While the talkie portions have been wrapped three songs are remaining to be shot.

Starring Vijay and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead roles, the film by AR Murugadoss has music by Harris Jayaraj. Comic relief is by Sathyan and cinematography by ace Santosh Sivan.

Vijay reportedly plays a cop in this action packed thriller that has few scenes shot in live locations in Mumbai using hidden cameras.

Last year, Vijay's Velayudham saw a massive opening and is one of his biggest hits so far. We'll have to wait to see if Vijay's this year Diwali release, which is a complete contrast to Velayudham, considering his suave avatar in Thupaki, will surpass the earlier one's records or not.

Reason Thuppaki did not trigger off: AR Murugadoss

AR Murugadoss has said that Vijay initially could not concentrate in Thuppaki because he had to promote Nanban. When the star returned from promoting Nanban, the FEFSI-Producers’ Council issue came up. Until this issue is resolved, the shooting cannot resume and therefore Thuppaki is put on hold.
However, the director, who has shot a few scenes with Vijay, says that he is amazed by his talents. Making the best use of the time in hands, AR Murugadoss says he has seen Nanban and Mouna Guru and thoroughly enjoyed both the films.

Vijay is thrilled extremely

Vijay is bubbling with joy thanks to Nanban's big hit. Says Vijay, ' Shankar is the best director I have ever worked with. I should call it a super chance. There used to be a lot of clarity and perfect planning. More than a great filmmaker, Shankar sir is a humble human being.'

On doing Aamir Khan's role in Nanban, Vijay says, 'I had watched 3 Idiots thrice. So, I studiously avoided Aamir’s style and infused a certain body language of my own that worked eventually. But of course, there were a few cute expressions of Aamir’s that I liked and followed exactly'.

Jiiva is a lively person and always cracks jokes on the sets. I guess that got translated on to the screen as well, he adds.

Vijay's grand celebrations

Actor Vijay chose to celebrate the success of Nanban by throwing a grand party on Friday.

Speaking about Nanban Vijay said, ' all credits should go to director Shankar. It was a rare opportunity to work with a filmmaker like Shankar. I enjoyed every moment of it'.

He heaped Harris Jeyaraj for giving wonderful tunes in the film. My fans say it is one of the musically best films in my career, he adds.

An off-beat film sans punch dialogus or stunts was a new to me. But we had faith in the script and director Shankar. Nanban has become the biggest hit of my career so far, he adds.

He is currently shooting for Thuppaki with A R Murugadoss and a movie next with Goutha Vasudev Menon.
